Got the promaster back. 2 hours and 90 miles later my orange glowing friend came back.

Someone should gather the service manager and tech together, and kick them squarely in the promaster.

When do you give up and just get a transit?

Holy crap. My F355’s last problem wasn’t even this expensive.

That moment when a van is more expensive than a Ferrari.

I don’t think the Fiat Ducato is nearly
as troublesome as your van. What’s actually going wrong with it?

The Fiat has 4 cylinder diesel engines and manual gearboxes though. No Chrysler V6 gas engine mated to a slushbox.
My uneducated guess is that something went wrong in redesigning the big higher displacement Chrysler drivetrain for the smaller displacement 4-cylinder-diesel -only van body.

I guess this is what I get to look forward to, though I've gone 22k miles so far without an issue since the beginning of March.

Someone in my neighborhood has a new Winnebago RV based on a Promaster and your posts were the first thing I thought of. No way would I trust driving across the country in one.

I asked last time. It is not under warranty. I don’t think he is the one footing the bill though. I think his place of employment is.

Funny aside: My local Mercedes-Benz and Chevy dealer’s parts runner is n ot a Metris, not a Sprinter, not an Express... it’s a Ford Transit.

Yes, it may well have. I think the van above has a large petrol engine.

What’s even more crazy is that the 3.6 is actually known to be quite a good engine.

Which is why I, as uneducated as I am about this subject, suspect something went wrong in the translation of that drive train to this van. Maybe something related to heat? I suspect the drivetrain is physically considerably larger and will generate considerably more heat than the original Fiat 4 cylinder diesel. In a very tightly packed engine compartment, more tightly packed than initially designed, this seems like a big risk.
Bt again, this is just mere speculation.
